- Fain is not your commander
- Fain does not have summoning sickness
- Your commander is on the battlefield and does not have a +1/+1 counter on it
Steps
- Activate Relic of Legends by tapping your commander, adding
- Your commander triggers, giving it +2/+0 and undying until end of turn
- Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing your commander, adding
- When your commander dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it
- Activate Fain's second ability by tapping it and removing the +1/+1 counter from your commander, creating a Treasure artifact token
- Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding
- Activate Fain's fourth ability by paying
, untapping it - Repeat
